Hail Destroyer - Cancer Bats
by Aaron J. Marko
As they say, (mostly your grandparents), strike while the iron's hot. Still riding high on the wave of 2006's 'Birthing The Giant', Ontario's Cancer Bats have finally released their follow up 'Hail Destroyer', effortlessly avoiding the dreaded sophomore jinx the only way they know how - with tasty riffs the size of your mother's ass.
Taking shit to a ho notha level, Canada's favourite hard partying straightedge band have opted for a much more direct attack this time around. While 'Hail Destroyer' still packs the same groove that made their debut the envy of every hardcore band who spent the past 5 years pretending they grew up listening to 38 Special, the tunes are far more aggressive this time. If “Birthing The Giant” was a good night out at the bar, “Hail Destroyer” is the bouncer stepping on your neck.
Even with a newfound sense of maliciousness, Cancer Bats never forget who they are. The good-time-party vibe is still there in spades. Will you throw the horns? Fuck yes you will. Underage kids everywhere agree, it’s the future soundtrack of bush parties nationwide.
